The National Open University was formerly the Central Radio and TV University. In July, 21, the outline of education planning put forward "Running the Open University Well", and in October, 21, the State Council issued the Notice on Launching the National Education System Reform Pilot, which identified five provinces and cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Yunnan, and the Central Radio and TV University as the pilot units for "exploring the construction mode of the Open University", which started the strategic transformation of the Radio and TV University. In June 212, China Central Radio and TV University was renamed the National Open University. In August, 22, the Party Group of the Ministry of Education deliberated and adopted the Comprehensive Reform Plan of the National Open University, which was issued by the Ministry, explicitly demanding that the National Open University be built into the main platform for lifelong education, online education, flexible education and foreign cooperation (four platforms), marking the transformation and upgrading of the Radio and TV University and the high-quality development of the Open University entering a new stage.
The Open University of China pays special attention to the educational needs of the grassroots, rural areas, border areas and ethnic minority areas, carries out education for specific groups, undertakes social responsibilities and promotes educational equity. At present, among the students registered, there are 2, farmers, 12, army officers, 27, minority students and 6, disabled students. Undertaking the "one college student in one village" plan of the Ministry of Education (also known as the "rural revitalization talent training plan"), we have trained a large number of new professional farmers who can "stay and do well". Twenty-five related majors in seven major subjects suitable for rural development have been set up one after another, with a total enrollment of 68, students and nearly 46, graduates.
