On February 21, the 2021 Central Committee’s No. 1 Document was officially released.
As the 18th document to guide the work on agriculture, rural areas and farmers since the beginning of the 21st century, this document mainly focuses on rural areas, agriculture, rural revitalization, infrastructure, agricultural modernization and food security.
Now that spring plowing is approaching, farming in various places will gradually become busy. The issuance of this document will undoubtedly play an important guiding role in my country's agricultural development and rural construction.
It is worth noting that as my country’s urbanization process accelerates in recent years, consumers’ demand and requirements for fresh food are also increasing. Coupled with the rapid development of fresh food e-commerce, my country’s demand for cold food has also increased. The demand for chain infrastructure is also growing.
As the main supplier of domestic fresh products, rural areas are also an important position for building cold chain infrastructure, reducing source losses, and ensuring food freshness.
In the Central Document No. 1 issued recently, it was pointed out that rural areas in my country need to speed up the implementation of cold chain logistics facility construction projects for agricultural product storage and preservation, and promote small-scale storage and preservation cold chain facilities in Tiantou and low-temperature direct sales and distribution at the origin. Construction of central and national backbone cold chain logistics bases.
With the introduction of a series of favorable policies, cold chain, refrigerated trucks and other warehousing and logistics facilities will undoubtedly usher in a wave of development opportunities.
In fact, my country's cold chain logistics infrastructure has been developing rapidly in recent years. For example, by 2019, the total amount of cold storage in my country has reached about 60.53 million tons, and the number of refrigerated trucks has also increased to more than 210,000.
In this context, the sales model of agricultural products has changed from the traditional shelf-stable products to fresh products.
However, behind the mushrooming of cold chain logistics infrastructure in our country, it cannot be ignored that due to the lack of corresponding policy support, it is difficult to build large-scale cold storage and logistics for the storage and transportation of agricultural products. Therefore, Overall, the cold chain logistics and warehousing system in rural areas of my country is still in its initial development stage. The established cold storages are difficult to fully function and are mostly idle and aging. The entire process of cold chain logistics control is also relatively weak.
Industry experts also said that some small cold storages in rural areas of my country are currently affected by factors such as high operating costs and low added value of products. Overall, their operating efficiency is not very good.
Not only are cold storage and other facilities facing idleness, but it is also difficult for agricultural products stored and transported in the cold chain to obtain corresponding prices in the market, making it difficult for these small cold storages to achieve long-term development.
At present, with the issuance of the Central Government’s No. 1 document, cold chain logistics infrastructure in rural areas will obviously have a more solid foundation for development, and will also provide guarantee for fresh agricultural products to enter the dining tables of thousands of households.
Overall, my country's cold chain industry is now at the forefront. For major merchants and agricultural production areas, it is the right time to take advantage of this east wind to promote the construction of cold chain infrastructure.
